Jonah and Emma (characters I've been working on)
She was more complex than even she could comprehend,
She was a new notebook found in an antique chest of drawers, covered in dust
She twisted her hair and flirted with the flowers, because they were easier to be admired by than boys.
The boys wished they were flowers.
She went to diners when she felt lonely, ordered pie, or bacon, or sometimes cereal, and hoped someone would sit with her, but instead they all sat across the way and talked about how one day they would approach her booth.

He hated small towns, simply because he loved new people. He thought that movies of any kind were the worst because they discouraged talking. He never stopped expressing. He spoke to himself underwater because secretly,he was afraid of the silence. His parents moved him to the suburbs because they thought the country air would suck the strange out of him. It didn't work.

The morning that they met was the kind that was not quite winter yet, so the girls shivered in sweaters instead of wearing coats, and the boys wore long sleeved shirts and stuffed their fingers into their jean pockets. The leaves were crisp, and the gusts of wind made everyone wince. Jonah woke up unusually early with a frown on his face. He put clothes on without knowing what color they were, got in his bike, and set out onto the suburban landscape. Emma woke up feeling like herself, which was her favorite way to feel, even though it didn't happen a lot these days. She pulled her high waisted jeans on over her muffin top and swaddled herself in a mustard colored sweater. Her brother was asleep. Her mother was not. She snuck out, just because she could.
(More to come if you like it and I keep working on it! Fingers crossed!)
